1. Agreement to these Terms
By creating an account or using Handpicked’s mobile app, website, or matchmaking service (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Community Guidelines, and the Safety Center. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement governs the license to the iOS app unless a different end-user license agreement is shown in the App Store. These Terms govern the Handpicked service and your relationship with Handpicked.
2. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old, legally permitted to enter a contract, and legally permitted to use a dating service where you live. You may not use Handpicked if we previously removed you for safety or serious rule violations unless we give written permission.
Provide accurate, current information about yourself. Create only one personal account, use your own photos, and keep login access secure. Do not transfer or sell an account. Notify handpickedmatch@gmail.com promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
We may ask you to verify age, identity, photos, or account ownership, including through a private selfie and short human-reviewed video introduction. The video may also inform human matchmaking judgment about how you present and communicate. It is not shared with potential matches. A verification badge is not a background check, endorsement, guarantee of identity, or promise that a person is safe.
3. How Handpicked works
You build an introduction profile and separately provide private information for a human matchmaker. Handpicked considers both sides’ profiles, preferences, and proximity. Staff tools may apply mutual filters, organize compatibility signals, and optionally assist an authorized matchmaker in comparing a small shortlist, but a human makes every final introduction decision. We may then send each person a selected profile and a short human-reviewed explanation of why they were paired. Each person privately accepts or passes. If both accept and any required introduction access is settled, the pair receives a private connection room. Members agree on a time in chat, jointly confirm a scheduled video call, and privately decide afterward whether to continue. Only when both continue does the room invite them to plan their own in-person date.
There is no swipe feed or member search. You should leave the app and wait after completing your profile. Matching is performed by real people and can take a while. Members with many mutually compatible options may receive an introduction sooner; members with fewer options may wait longer. We do not promise any minimum number, timing, quality, outcome, relationship, or date.
A match note is an opinion based on the information available at that time. People and circumstances change. Use your own judgment and follow the Safety Center before communicating or meeting.
Either member may unmatch from an active connection for any reason. Unmatching is irreversible, immediately closes both members’ access to the chat, scheduled call, and date plan, and does not by itself report or block the other member. Your selected reason and optional note are private from the other member but may be available to authorized staff for support, safety, fraud prevention, and service integrity.
4. Free first introduction and later purchases
It is free to join, complete a profile, and wait. Your complete first published introduction is included. Unless an in-app offer states otherwise, that benefit is limited to one per person and may not be reset by deleting or recreating an account.
After your first introduction, Handpicked may offer a one-time “Single Handpicked Introduction” through Apple In-App Purchase for each later selected profile. Before purchase, you receive only a deliberately obscured preview; the complete identity, profile, public prompts, and matchmaker note are revealed only after Apple verifies your purchase. You must reveal the profile before choosing yes or pass. You must confirm each purchase, and Handpicked does not automatically enroll you in a subscription.
The planned U.S. price is approximately $19.99 per purchase at launch, but the exact price, currency, and included service shown on Apple’s purchase sheet control. Apple may apply local pricing and taxes. A Single Handpicked Introduction is a consumable digital item used when that complete post-free profile is delivered to your account. It does not guarantee that you or the other person accepts, a mutual match, a video call, an in-person date, compatibility, or a relationship. Except where law or Apple’s refund rules require otherwise, passing, unmatching, blocking, lack of mutual acceptance, or choosing not to meet after reveal does not make the consumable unused. If Handpicked withdraws an introduction before delivering the complete profile, contact support so we can review an appropriate replacement or refund path.
Apple processes payments and refund requests under its rules. To request a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not receive your complete payment-card details. Deleting your account does not itself create a refund or delete Apple’s independent transaction record.
5. Member conduct
Follow the Community Guidelines. In particular, do not:
- misrepresent your identity, age, intentions, relationship status, work, or photos;
- harass, threaten, stalk, shame, discriminate against, exploit, or pressure another person;
- post nudity, sexual content, hateful content, violent threats, or content involving a minor;
- solicit money, run scams, advertise, recruit, traffic people, or use the Service for commercial sexual services;
- scrape profiles, build a database, reverse engineer the Service, evade access limits, or use automated access without written permission;
- share another member’s profile, private communications, personal information, or images outside the purpose of the introduction without consent; or
- make false or bad-faith reports.
Preferences can be personal, including preferences about appearance, background, religion, or culture. You may share honest preferences privately with a matchmaker, but you may not use the Service to demean, dehumanize, harass, or promote hatred against a person or protected group.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of content you submit. You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit it and that it is accurate enough not to mislead others.
You grant Handpicked a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, and share your content only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service in accordance with your settings and the Privacy Policy. This includes showing introduction-profile content to a selected potential match; it does not permit us to use your profile or private matchmaker answers in advertising without separate permission. The license ends when the content is deleted, except for limited copies retained for legal, safety, or backup reasons described in the Privacy Policy.
We may remove content that violates these Terms or could create risk for members or the Service.
7. Safety; no background-check guarantee
Handpicked cannot guarantee the identity, intentions, honesty, health, criminal history, or conduct of a member. Unless Handpicked expressly tells you otherwise for a specific check, we do not perform comprehensive criminal, sex-offender, employment, education, financial, or other background checks. Even when verification is offered, it has limits.
You are responsible for your interactions and decisions to meet. Meet in public, control your own transportation, tell someone your plan, do not send money, protect financial and identity information, and leave if you feel uncomfortable. Report and block concerning behavior in the app.
8. Reports, blocking, and enforcement
Profiles, messages, and live-call conduct are user content or interactions. We provide tools to report content and block members, use human review, and take reasonable action on safety concerns. Authorized personnel may review stored connection messages when needed for safety, support, moderation, or legal compliance. Calls are not recorded or transcribed at launch. We may warn, limit, pause, remove content, suspend, or terminate an account; preserve evidence; or notify authorities when appropriate or legally required. We do not promise a specific enforcement result or disclose confidential safety information about another person.

9. Pausing, deletion, and termination
You may pause matching or initiate account deletion through settings. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, nonpayment, material or repeated violations, or protection of the Service. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to appeal.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, payment records, disclaimers, limits of liability, and dispute terms—remain in effect.
10. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” Handpicked disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, a particular match, mutual attraction, a date, compatibility, safety, or a relationship. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Handpicked and its owners, personnel, and providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of data, goodwill, profits, or opportunities; or another member’s acts or omissions. Handpicked’s aggregate liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid Handpicked through the App Store in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limits do not apply where prohibited, including liability that cannot legally be limited. Your consumer rights remain unaffected.
12. Governing law and disputes
Before filing a claim, you and Handpicked agree to try in good faith for 30 days to resolve it by contacting handpickedmatch@gmail.com, unless urgent relief or applicable law makes that impractical. Applicable law and the courts with jurisdiction will be determined by mandatory consumer-protection and conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited where you live.
13. General terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. We will post a new effective date and provide additional notice when a change is material. Continued use after the change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms; if you do not accept them, delete your account before then.
You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, or transfer of the Service. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. Delay in enforcement is not a waiver. These Terms and the policies incorporated above are the entire agreement about the Service.
